Our story

Founded and run by Naomi Perfitt, a passionate and qualified teacher with over 12 years experience, Adventure Playschool officially opened its doors in 2020.

After leading early years settings in primary schools, Naomi decided to create Adventure Playschool, a setting that offers opportunities that prepare children for school and to become lifelong learners.

Naomi was keen for Adventure Playschool to provide a holistic setting that was inclusive of all children and followed an ethos to incorporate both play and outdoor experiences.

Adventure Playschool operates from Ravenstone Pavilion, a parish owned building in the village of Ravenstone, in North West Leicestershire.

Adventure Playschool is a small setting that caters for up to 16 children per session. Children have access to both inside and outside space with many different activities on offer.

We provide nutritious snacks from our kitchen and have large changing room facilities to give us the space to tog up for outdoor adventures, whatever the weather!

Right on our doorstep is Ravenstone Recreation area where we have access to two different play areas with equipment and lots of outdoor space, perfect for our adventures!

All our staff have a minimum of level 3 childcare qualification and have attended a variety of training courses to ensure they offer the very best care and support for the children in our care.

Sessions

  • Full school day session 9am – 3pm
  • Morning 9am – 12pm
  • Afternoon 12pm – 3pm

Children who attend full day sessions or afternoon sessions bring a packed lunch to enjoy with their fellow adventurers.

Meet the team

Naomi, Founder & SENDCo

Hi, I’m Naomi. I am the founder of Adventure Playschool and extremely passionate about Early Years, specifically the importance of play and outdoor learning. I am a qualified teacher with a Masters in Education and over 15 years experience. I have trained as a Play Champion and Forest School Leader. My years of experience and these courses have inspired the curriculum which Adventure Playschool offers.

As a mum of three, I understand the needs and expectations of families during these crucial years. I am an outdoor adventurer; I love camping and getting my walking boots on to explore new places! I’m an enthusiastic baker, keen gardener and a book worm. Every day is an adventure at Adventure Playschool and I’m extremely proud of the setting we have created!

Jess, Deputy Manager

I joined Adventure Playschool as an Apprentice in 2021. I have completed my Level 3 Early Educator qualification and have recently taken on the role as Deputy Manager. I absolutely love my job, every day is different and every day is filled with joy.

When I’m not having fun at playschool I love to walk my dog Fern and spend time with my family and friends. Every minute that I am free I spend reading.

Steph, Early Years Educator

I joined Adventure Playschool in June 2022. I have worked in Early Years setting for 16 years. I have a foundation degree in Childcare. I love my role and supporting families.

When I am not at playschool I love walking and spending time with my family. I really enjoy reading, swimming and going to the gym. I have a soft spot for alpacas and love any opportunity for walking experiences with them. My favourite colour is lilac.

Kelly, Early Years Educator (maternity leave until 2025)

I joined Adventure Playschool in October 2022 but have been working in childcare since 2002. I am trained as a level 3 Practitioner in Early Childcare and Education. I am also Level 3 Forest school trained.

I live in Ravenstone, my birthday is Christmas Eve and my favourite colour is yellow. My favourite book is Mr Big.

When I’m not having fun at playschool I love travelling around world or going on adventures in my campervan, going to festivals, swimming, yoga and hiking.
