Our story

Founded and run by Naomi Standring, a passionate and qualified teacher with over 15 years experience, Adventure Playschool officially opened its doors in 2020.

After leading early years settings in primary schools, Naomi decided to create Adventure Playschool, a setting that offers opportunities that prepare children for school and to become lifelong learners.

Naomi was keen for Adventure Playschool to provide a holistic setting that was inclusive of all children and followed an ethos to incorporate both play and outdoor experiences.

Adventure Playschool operates from Ravenstone Pavilion, a parish owned building in the village of Ravenstone, in North West Leicestershire.

Adventure Playschool is a small setting that caters for up to 18 children per session. Children have access to both inside and outside space with many different activities on offer.

We provide nutritious snacks from our kitchen and have large changing room facilities to give us the space to tog up for outdoor adventures, whatever the weather!

We have our own Forest School site in the heart of a beautiful private woodland and access to a whole variety of adventuring sites across the village – right on our doorstep is Ravenstone Recreation area where we have access to two different play areas with equipment and lots of outdoor space, perfect for our adventures!

All our staff have a minimum of level 3 childcare qualification and have attended a variety of training courses to ensure they offer the very best care and support for the children in our care.

Sessions

  • Full school day session 9am – 3pm
  • Morning 9am – 12pm
  • Afternoon 12pm – 3pm

Children who attend full day sessions or afternoon sessions bring a packed lunch to enjoy with their fellow adventurers.

Meet the team

Naomi, Founder & SENDCo

Hi, I’m Naomi. I am the founder of Adventure Playschool and extremely passionate about Early Years, specifically the importance of play and outdoor learning. I am a qualified teacher with a Masters in Education and over 15 years experience. I have trained as a Play Champion and Forest School Leader. My years of experience and these courses have inspired the curriculum which Adventure Playschool offers.

As a mum of three, I understand the needs and expectations of families during these crucial years. I am an outdoor adventurer; I love camping and getting my walking boots on to explore new places! I’m an enthusiastic baker, keen gardener and a book worm. Every day is an adventure at Adventure Playschool and I’m extremely proud of the safe space and community we have created.

Jess, Deputy Manager

Hi, I’m Jess! Deputy Manager here at Adventure Playschool, and I feel incredibly proud to have been part of this beautiful setting for the past four years. I began my journey here as an apprentice and I was eager to learn and passionate about supporting young children in their earliest stages of development. Through dedication and a genuine love for early years education, I progressed into my role as Deputy Manager.. a position I truly cherish! I take great pride in building strong, trusting relationships with both children and parents, creating a nurturing environment for children to grow.

Outside of playschool, I love spending time outdoors with my sausage dog, Fern. Whether we’re exploring new walking trails or enjoying fresh air with muddy boots, being outside is my happy place and that love for nature naturally flows into my work with the children. My love language is definitely baking and cooking for my people and I love sharing this hobby with the children. My family would definitely label me a bookworm with my vast collection of books taking up our home, Storytelling is something I treasure and I love bringing stories to life to spark imagination and a lifelong love of reading.

It’s a privilege to be part of your child’s early years journey, and I look forward to welcoming you into our playschool family!

I joined Adventure Playschool in 2024 at the start of my learning in college on a childcare course. I will be starting a level 3 apprenticeship at Adventure Playschool in September of 2026. Working at Adventure Playschool has inspired and helped me along my journey of learning! I love helping each child grow and learn on their journey, seeing all the smiles on their faces always makes me happy.
